Fall & Spring Term Classes for 7th-12th Graders

10:15-11:00 a.m.

The Bible through Art
Grades 9-12 in Room 301

Biblical texts that tell the stories through words and the great art treasures of the world which interpret the stories through images will be the teen’s focus this fall. This class will begin at the beginning—in Genesis, with the stories of the fathers and mothers of our faith. It will explore how those ancient ancestors encountered God, struggled with God, said “yes” and “no” to God, and how they loved and fought and schemed and failed and tried again. In other words, we will be looking at real people, and discovering how their journeys connect with our journeys. The primary goal of “The Bible through Art” will be to engage the text in a variety of ways to cultivate and encourage a greater appreciation of and love for our sacred Scriptures.

Journey to Adulthood, Rite-13
Grades 7 & 8 in Room 302

Using Bible study, prayer, rites of passage, outreach ministries and both serious and playful activities, the class will explore the principles that manhood and womanhood are free gifts from God; and adulthood must be earned. Rite-13 focuses on celebrating the individuality of each young person and their creative potential.
