

The Public Schools Ministries initiative provides support for two Memphis City Public Schools (Carnes Elementary and Grizzlies Academy) through tutoring, book and backpack drives, faculty appreciation events, and shared dinners.
Volunteers are needed to tutor at Carnes Elementary on weekdays during school hours. Activities include reading to kindergartners and tutoring in beginning reading, writing, and math.
- 10:00-11:30 a.m. Kindergarten Reading Block
- 8:30-10:00 a.m. 1st-5th Grade Reading Block
- 11:30 a.m.-2:15 p.m. Reading and Math Labs
Volunteers are not required to stay for the entire reading block or lab periods, but reading block volunteers are asked to be present at the beginning of the blocks. Lab volunteers can drop in at anytime. Volunteer to read or tutor.
Grizzlies Academy High School
The first Monday of every month, Calvary sponsors a dinner at the Grizzlies Academy. Students learn valuable social, cooking, and customer service skills at these dinners. Volunteers are needed from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. for these events. Volunteer to cook dinner.
Volunteers are needed to tutor at the Grizzlies Academy on Mondays and Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. Areas of study include Math, Science, English, Reading, & Spanish. Volunteer to tutor.
